By: James Allen, Mon Apr 2nd, 2007
The light bulb Thomas Edison invented and made famous may be on its way out in the coming years, at least in the Golden State. California State Assemblyman Lloyd Levine recently introduced legislation that would ban the sale of incandescent light bulbs by 2012. This legislation, titled the “How Many Legislators Does it take to Change a Light Bulb Act,” (say that 5 times fast) touts the benefits of energy-saving light bulbs, such as the increasingly popular compact fluorescent bulb or CFL, and the up-and-coming LED bulb.
Fundamental Ways that could Stop Global Warming
By: Jean Simmer, Mon Apr 2nd, 2007
What do you think could come in as more important to our basic human needs such as food, shelter, medicine, education or even the need for affection? There could be one issue that would predetermine everything that will transpire on the planet, and that is the planet’s condition. If the world were on the brink of destruction, saving it would be the priority of every single individual. And save it we must. Although the threat is still not at a life and death level, there is an alarming truth that there are several problems that are now bugging the place that we live in. Say hello to global warming. And try to say bye - stop global warming!
How to Stop Deforestation?
By: Jean Simmer, Mon Apr 2nd, 2007
Deforestation has rapidly destroyed much of the planet’s forests for years. One major challenge for governments and environmentalists alike would be how to stop deforestation so current environmental conditions would not come to worse. In the past centuries, people have been naturally cutting down trees and burning down forests. Take note that hundreds of years ago, most of the earth’s land surface had been covered by forests. So to be able to construct residential areas and establish villages, people had to destroy some forests. As population grew through the years, there are much development that needs to be achieved.

By: James Bratley, Tue Mar 6th, 2007
Solar power is generated when energy is extracted from the suns rays through the use of photovoltaic cells (commonly referred to as solar cells). These cells convert photos (from the suns rays) into electricity, and this process is known as the “photovoltaic effect.”

Going Green Bit by Bit
By: Stephanie Foster, Tue Jan 30th, 2007
Living a greener lifestyle feels complicated. But you can start with the easy steps and make a real difference, even if it’s a small one at first. Let’s start with your light fixtures. As your light bulbs die, replace them with compact fluorescent light bulbs. These cost more at the store but use less energy and last up to 10 times longer, so they can be well worth the money. These are much better than the old fluorescent bulbs which had an awkward greenish cast and slight flicker at times.
